The Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi is expanding its premium product lineup in India with the upcoming release of the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Xiaomi Pad 8. These devices will officially debut in the country on March 11, following their global unveiling at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 on February 28, as reported by the company.
The Xiaomi Pad 8 tablet is anticipated to be released in India on March 10, while the flagship Xiaomi 17 series smartphones, which include the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, are expected to launch the following day.
Both smartphones are equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology, especially the Ultra model, which features a Leica-branded camera.
This upcoming launch signifies Xiaomi’s continued ambition to penetrate the high-end smartphone market. The Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra will operate on HyperOS, based on Android 16, and are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
The Ultra variant is promoted as the most advanced model, boasting a large 6.9-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a triple-camera system that includes a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. In contrast, the Xiaomi 17 is one of the few compact flagship models available, featuring a smaller 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits.
Battery capacity is another significant aspect. The standard Xiaomi 17 will offer fast charging and a substantial battery designed for all-day use, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to come with a 6,000mAh battery, supporting 90W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Globally, the Xiaomi 17 is available in black, blue, pink, and green, but in India, it will only be offered in black, blue, and green. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be exclusively available in black in India.
